Camellia Tea Seed Oil: Taiwan's Premium Cooking Oil
Hiep Hoa Asian Food
Camellia tea seed oil (苦茶油) is pressed from the seeds of the tea plant. It has a high smoke point, a mild nutty flavour, and is rich in oleic acid. In Taiwan it's used for stir-frying, dressings, and even taken by the spoonful as a traditional tonic.
Because it's cold-pressed, it retains more of its natural character than refined oils. Store in a cool, dark place and use within a few months of opening for best flavour.
Try it in place of olive oil in dressings, or for light frying and finishing dishes. It pairs especially well with vegetables and seafood.
